With 30 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Laboratory Quality Management, and Maritime Safety, Mike Schmitt has the experience and drive to help keep your projects safe. Mike founded Certified Marine Chemists Inc. in order to deliver the very best practices for our clients, and their employees.

Mike’s experience includes inspection and certification of a wide variety of commercial and military vessels, including:

  • Tank Ships, Barges
  • LNG Tankers
  • Tugboats, Towboats
  • Offshore Supply Vessels
  • Fishing Boats and Factory Fishing Vessels
  • Aircraft Carriers, Destroyers, Submarines

  • Special Endorsement for Vessels Having Flammable Cryogenic Liquid Fuel or Cargo

Marine Chemist Trainee

Johnathon Whitlow is training to be a NFPA Certificated Marine Chemist.

Johnathon is a graduate of Texas A&M University at Galveston. He is a former USCG Licensed Master of Vessels (Any Gross Tons), and a Licensed Offshore Installation Manager. During his more than 25 year maritime career, he has also served as an HSE Manager, and a Fleet Operations Manager. In addition, Johnathon’s experience includes managing the construction and commissioning of maritime vessels in foreign shipyards.

  • TAPROOT® Root Cause Analysis Team Leader
